The painting of the Point Judith Lighthouse on the front cover of this book, which beautifully emulates a feeling of uncertainty yet hopefulness, was designed by Mary Ann Rossoni of Second Story Graphics. The judging was done" blindly” by the Notable Works’ Poetry Panel: Greg Berger, Bina Gehres, Patricia McAlpine, Barbara Pavone, Carolann Soder and Alison Shea three judges from from Ocean State Poets - Carol Anderheggen, William Carpenter and Lawrence J. Notable Works received more than two hundred submissions from a diverse group of poets from all over the country, and from all ages, with differing levels of expertise, backgrounds and experience. The submitting poets followed the theme of “Awakening a Resolve for Re-Discovery, Resolution, Adaption and Growth: A Call for Continued Action,” as it pertains to all aspects of the natural environment. The poems included in this Third Edition of Voices of the Earth: The Future of Our Planet, were selected from poetry submitted in response to Notable Works’ "2023 Call for Poetry,” which ran from Januuntil Februat midnight.
